Clarity of purpose is important if you desire to make a change in your life. Everyone wants to be a success. In talking about success, one area worth mentioning is this; purpose and success are complimentary in nature. You cannot fulfil purpose without being specific on how to go about it, identify it, and use it to further the cause of God’s presence on earth. John 15:7 “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you”
What is Purpose?
In simple terms, purpose is the reason why you were created. And your first duty after creation by God is to serve God and use the skills, talent and abilities inherent in you to be used for his glory, edifying the body of Christ and using it to better the lives of people and the world around us.
Clarity of purpose is vital to achieving any success in life. The main reason why many people are unsuccessful is that they’re not clear about where there are to go. Clarity is the primary difference between people who flounder about their lives unsure of what to do and people who have focus and drive to succeed. Impatience and I-know-it-all-attitudes kill clarity of purpose. To achieve clarity of purpose you have to choose what truly matters; do you trust God enough to lead and direct your path? Lead you through every phase of life? Or you want to pilot your course yourself? Your decision is key to achieving and fulfilling purpose your call on earth.
How do we attain clarity of purpose?
In attaining clarity of purpose, you must ask yourself what is that particular thing or things that seem to bother you. We might also ask, what are those things that excites you and when you venture into it, could bring succour and relief to people. Define what you wish to change; knowing what it’s about. That way, you’ll come closer with your purpose
Be specific
Identify what you have, the gifts and talents in you. If you don’t know what you want, you can’t get anything. A right way to start is by volunteering to serve others at NGO’s, organizations or at events. Through clarity of purpose, you’ll be able to identify, what you want and why you want it. There should be considerations as to what you want. Could it be fame or impact? Are you doing it for people’s appraisal? Or you’re pursuing purpose for the right cause and to drive change and make the world a better place. Your intention will always be revealed in how tenacious your drive is.
Seek the giver
God has loved us with ineffable love, the more you abide in him, the more your purpose is revealed and you gain more clarity of purpose. Often times, people seek the gifts and not the giver. This mind frame is wrong. As God’s children, our eyes should be on the father, the giver of all gifts. Though seeking gifts is not bad , however going after God’s will and desire will propel our lives. It is your duty to put on the right attitude in discovering your purpose.
Staying with the purpose
The life we live is full of distractions and instant gratification, but to achieve purpose, you are to stay focused and remain in constant fellowship with God. According to Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. While staying true to our purpose, one thing required is looking inward which forms part of the process. –In this phase, you need to know that purpose outlasts wealth. From Isaiah 30:20, the Bible records that “And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher” ESV
Working on a critical spirit
Don’t beat yourself too hard when things don’t go our way. It is good to be your own critic.Beating yourself down will lead to hurting your life. Your purpose in life is towards fulfilling destiny for our destiny is rooted in Christ. One interesting fact to know while fulfilling destiny is that the process of fulfilling destiny is not time restricted; no matter how old or young, you can still find and fulfil purpose. In summary our purpose is to serve Jesus and represent Him in our everyday lives. Your purpose cannot be fulfilled if you go contrary to the purpose for which you were created.
